JBAY FIN DESIGN BRUCE'S BEAUTIES The brainchild behind this design is raw-unconstrained speed... it feels like there's a supercar under your feet. With a slightly wider base and a tight curve back into a more straight-up twin fin with a Sting on the Tail. The straight-up twin allows for a sharp pivot point to go hard off the bottom, and then the Sting on the Tail is the cut-off tip right at the end of the fin, which allows you to get that little extra bit of release when you want to drift the tail just a little more in a carve or off the top re-entry.These Twins can be used in a modern fish design and allow range into your more performance-based twin fin boards. It allows you to generate speed quickly and drive through sections, then lay into a hard carve with complete drive throughout. The squared-off tip on each fin lets you release the tail through turns when you want to drift it wherever you want it to go. -Available in S, M and L

How did you first get into surfing? What about the sport hooked you and made you want to pursue it?

Found a board for R100 at a cafe, fell in love with it from the very first wave. The incredible way of being free in nature & surfing is a way of life more than a sport. It has taken me to some incredible places and I met some amazing people along the way.

If you had to describe your personal surfing style in just a few words, what would it be? What aspects of your approach set you apart?

Speed is my friend & I like to generate as much spray as possible with every turn.

What does it mean to you to represent JBay Fin Design?

With my rare disease(Pompe’s Disease), surfing started becoming difficult.  With the incredible help from JBay Fin design they have helped me design fins that generate speed & allow me to be the guide to turn & portray my style of surfing.

What does the JBay Fin Design’s motto "Not just a fin, it's a feeling" mean to you?

It means that they allow me to express what I feel and put those feelings & ideas into motion with their magic fins.

Which fins do you ride and how do the fins you ride shape your overall experience in the water? Also, include which dimension surfboards you pair the fins with.

I surf the Bruce’s Beauties Quad fins in a 5.9” rocket that gives me a lot of stability & drive for high speed and hold in bigger surf.

I ride the Bruce’s Beauties 2 +1 as an all rounder, it allows lots of drive and looseness in the tail when I want to set my fins free.

I surf the Thor Quad fins in my 2 Assymetrical boards that allow for huge speed & release when drifting the board through carves.

What are some of your favourite waves and surf spots around the world? Do you have a "home break" that holds a special place for you?

I love Yallingup & surrounding waves in West Oz.

Padang Padang, Camp’s Cove (a secret wave my brother & I named)

Boilers & Virgin Bay are hidden gems nestled on the wildside.

Outside of surfing, what are some of your other passions and hobbies?

I love many water sports like SUPing, open water swimming, paddling, & I really love mountain biking trails.

How do you like spending time when you're not in the water?

I coach many athletes in a huge variety of sports & share there journey to help them achieve their goals & dreams.

 

Which breaks are still on your surfing bucket list to check off? And what's one wave or destination that didn't quite live up to the hype for you?

I think South Africa has so many nooks & crannies to explore & I would love to tour the West Coast a lot more as well as the South Cost for new barrels & adventures.
