How did you first get into surfing? What about the sport hooked you and made you want to pursue it?
My dad put me on his longboard when I was fresh out of school so you can call me a late bloomer and ever since that day I’ve been hooked. My whole life revolves around the wind , tides and waves.
If you had to describe your personal surfing style in just a few words, what would it be? What aspects of your approach set you apart?
Well I’m kinda of a chilled guy so I would say laid back but always frothing to go surf
What does it mean to you to represent JBay Fin Design?
Honoured to be apart of this amazing brand doing great things in the surfing community. Spreading the stoke and good vibes.
What does the JBay Fin Design’s motto "Not just a fin, it's a feeling" mean to you?
You hit the nail on the head with the motto, its all about the feeling, the stoke, the vibe.
Which fins do you ride and how do the fins you ride shape your overall experience in the water? Also, include which dimension surfboards you pair the fins with.
10’ Albatross V2 in 9’4 log. This fin really helps me connect with the board. Its gives me control in all conditions.
Outside of surfing, what are some of your other passions and hobbies?
I enjoy running and creating digital art prints on iPad.
What are some of your favourite waves and surf spots around the world?
Best 2 favourite waves to surf are The Point, Jeffery’s Bay and Ponto do Ouro in Mozambique, both long right handers. Nose rides for days.
What's the most memorable or meaningful surf experience so far?
When the whole family goes on a surf adventure. Ponto was the memorable one especially when you break down half way in a 1996 Land rover and the missioning to get parts have it repaired on side of the road and then head on before boarder closes.
How do you like spending time when you're not in the water?
Going on bush hikes. Going to the mountains (Drakensberg).
